Moroccan Comfort Food From An Award-Winning Chef.
Hailed by Eater NY as “the city’s best Moroccan restaurant to have opened in years,” and included in their “15 Hottest New Restaurants in Manhattan” (March 2023), Tara Kitchen Tribeca is the latest venture from Chef Aneesa Waheed.
For over a decade, Tara Kitchen has featured vibrant, deeply flavorful food that has earned it a devoted following in locations across the Capital Region and in Wildwood NJ.
Vibrant, not fiery, our dishes are seasoned with spices that reflect Morocco’s history as a cultural crossroad and celebrate Chef Aneesa’s talent for building beautifully balanced flavors out of unexpected combinations.
Signature tagines—stews featuring chicken, lamb, or seafood, and a variety of vegetables—are fragrant with earthy cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, and other spices. Fruits like dried figs and apricots, as well as prunes and local blueberries add subtle sweetness, and olives, a salty pop. Herbs like mint, fenugreek, and parsley add the finishing touches, and it all comes together in a magical way that’s outright addictive—like a culinary hug.
Chef Aneesa has even fused in comfort food from beyond North Africa and given them a Moroccan twist: Favorites like cabbage rolls, shepherd’s pie and fish cakes get a tasty makeover that will only make you love them more.
Because we love it when everyone can enjoy our food, many of our dishes are vegan, halal and free of gluten, nuts, dairy and soy.
Chef Aneesa Waheed put her stamp on Moroccan cuisine when she fell in love with it during a life-changing trip to Marrakech. Her mastery of sweet and savory flavors and inventive take on Moroccan cuisine has brought her considerable acclaim: She’s earned her spot in Albany Business 40 Under 40, Rising Star Chef, Women who mean Business Award, ICCR Business and Entrepreneurship award, New York State Assembly Women of Distinction etc. and has been featured in several Food TV Network shows including Beat Bobby Flay, Kitchen Crasher’s and Guy Fieri’s Grocery Games.
